TICKFORD RACING – TICKFORD PARTNERS BAPCOR, BAPCOR RETAIL
2 February, 2021
Tickford Racing has confirmed a significant partnership with Bapcor and AUTOBARN that brings two exciting new commercial partners to the Melbourne-based team in the lead up to the 2021 Supercars Championship.
The new partnership will see Autobarn make its return to Supercars competition for the first time since 2018 as well as the debut of Chicane Tools, a new premium hand tool brand from Bapcor.
Prominent branding of Autobarn and Chicane will appear on the Ford Mustangs driven by Cam Waters and James Courtney as well as Tickford Racing crew gear, and Chicane hand tools will fill the toolboxes of the team’s garages at track, putting the premium tools through their paces in the world’s most competitive touring car championship.
Chicane was launched in December 2020 with an expanding range of hand and specialty tools and tool storage options. All tools are made from the highest quality resources, designed to meet, and exceed industry standards, and priced to represent great value in the market.
Bapcor Managing Director and CEO Darryl Abotomey is thrilled to partner Chicane Tools with Tickford and show mechanics and DIY enthusiasts across the country the first-rate quality of Chicane Tools.
“Aligning Chicane Tools with a team as successful as Tickford gives us a great chance to showcase our new tool brand to Supercars fans around the country,” Abotomey said.
“Chicane is an exciting addition to Bapcor’s offering; our products are designed to be industry-leading using the best materials available, so to partner with another industry leader such as Tickford Racing is the perfect partnership. Tickford Racing deals with mechanical puzzles daily, just like Chicane’s customer base of mechanics and DIY enthusiasts. Every race is a new one, and when Tickford is faced with a mechanical challenge in 2021, we are pleased to say they will turn to Chicane Tools.”
Bapcor Retail Executive General Manager Tim Cockayne is delighted to see the Autobarn name return to the sport in 2021 with the two-time Bathurst 1000 winners, Tickford Racing.
“Autobarn customers have a real passion for Supercars, so to bring Autobarn back to the championship with a top team like Tickford Racing is incredibly exciting,” Cockayne said.
“Autobarn has been helping Australians maintain, fix, and tune up their cars since 1985, and with the introduction of Chicane it was a natural opportunity for us to re-enter a sport we have positive memories in. Tickford had a tremendous finish to their 2020 season and like us are striving to be the best in their field. We’re really looking forward to Autobarn and Chicane celebrating more success together in 2021.”
Tickford Racing CEO and Team Principal Tim Edwards shared his excitement for the partnership that sees the well-known and new brands join one of Australia’s most successful motor racing teams.
“Bringing Chicane and Autobarn on board from 2021 is incredibly exciting for our team,” Edwards said. “Partnering with a renowned company synonymous with the automotive industry like Autobarn and to simultaneously provide a platform to a new brand in Chicane is really the best of both worlds. On race day we think three steps ahead, so when our crew turns to Chicane, we know they will have the best tools available. We’re excited about what this partnership will bring, Autobarn has been part of several historic moments throughout their involvement in Supercars over the years, so we’d love to add our own while also helping to build the Chicane tool brand as we race across Australia.”
Chicane Tools are exclusively available through Bapcor’s group of stores and outlets, including Burson, Autopro, and Autobarn. Autobarn is a leading retailer of automotive aftermarket accessories, spare parts, car audio, tools, roof racks, car care, and oils & additives. Australian owned and operated Autobarn has been serving Australians’ automotive needs for nearly 40 years and has been frequently involved in Supercars over the past two decades. The next chapter of that involvement begins at the Mount Panorama 500 February 26-28 at Bathurst.
