Tickford five-some for eSeries Round 5

TICKFORD RACING – eSERIES ROUND 5 PREVIEW
5 May, 2020
Tickford Racing heads into the fifth round of the BP Supercars All-Stars eSeries with a fifth bullet in the chamber, as team Dunlop Super2 driver Broc Feeney (No. 93 Boost Mobile Ford Mustang) joins the field as a wild card entry for Round 5. Feeney is the reigning Super3 champion and at just 17 years old is among the highest rated of the next generation of Supercar drivers, and will make his virtual Supercars debut as the eSeries contests three races at the famed Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Fresh off his round win last week in North America, Cameron Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) has held firm on second place in the standings, and aims to continue chipping away towards the top of the ladder.

Will Davison’s (No. 23 Milwaukee Racing Ford Mustang) fourth in Race 11 was the highlight of an otherwise frustrating round, but the 23Red Racing driver looks to bounce back in Round 5, heading into the event ninth in the championship.

Lee Holdsworth (No. 5 Truck Assist Ford Mustang) and Jack Le Brocq (No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang) enter the Spa round 14th and 15th in the championship, respectively. Holdsworth recorded an eSeries-best fourth in Race 13 last week, while Le Brocq endured another event being collected in several incidents by other drivers, posting a high race finish of 12th.

Wednesday will be Feeney’s first foray into the Supercars eSeries, but the teenager is a regular on iRacing in Supercars, and expected to be competitive when racing gets underway.

Live coverage of Round 5 of the BP Supercars All-Star eSeries begins at 6:00 p.m. AEST on Fox Sports, Kayo, and Sky Sports with coverage of qualifying. Additional live coverage on Supercars’ digital channels begins at 7:00, and tape delayed broadcasts can be view on Ten Play and Ten Bold on Saturday.

Lee Holdsworth
“I’ve probably done thousands of laps around Spa on the computer over the years, it’s one of my favourite tracks in the world. It’s so fast and iconic, it’ll be really cool to race a virtual Supercar on it. I reckon it’ll be pretty tricky in a pack, but we should be able to get the tow off the car in front, so it should be good for action.”

Cameron Waters
“Everyone will say Spa is one of the marquee circuits in the world, so it’s a no-brainer for us to race there in the eSeries. It’s long and fast and offers several places to pass. It’s a really fun track and should offer some good racing. Obviously it was great to get the round win last week, hopefully we can stay up the front and chip away a bit more in the championship.”

No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang
Jack Le Brocq
“Spa’s one of my favourite tracks in the world, like just about anyone it’s one of those tracks I’d like to have the chance to race at for real someday, but I’m looking forward to virtually racing on it. It’s such a fun track with long straights, elevation change, some really cool corner combinations, it should be a pretty good race. It’d be great to avoid all the shunts for a change and bring home some good results, so we’ll see how we go.”

Will Davison
“Obviously the end of last week didn’t go to plan, but hopefully we can turn it around this week at one of my favourite tracks in the world. Spa’s amazing, it’s such a special track, but being so used to watching Formula One and single seaters race there you kind of have to re-program your brain when you take a Supercar around there, there’s certainly not as much grip as you think you’re going to have! But it’s still a really fun lap, and the racing should be fun too, if we can just stay out of the carnage we should be on for some good results.”

“I’m really looking forward to jumping in for Round 5 of the BP Supercars All-Star eSeries this Wednesday night at Spa. I think it’s going to be great fun, I get to jump in the Boost Mobile Ford Mustang for the first time, so I’m really excited for that. It’s going to be great to mix it up with the best in Australian motorsport at one of the most iconic tracks in the world. I’m really excited, hopefully we stay out of all those crashes that have been happening recently, there’s also a Top Ten Shootout so we’ll try and jump in that. Should be great fun, hopefully we have three solid races, I’m really looking forward to it, and a massive thank you to everyone who’s given me this opportunity.”

Tim Edwards, Team Principal
“Spa is undoubtedly one of the best race tracks in the world so even though it’s only in the virtual world it’ll be exciting to see our Supercars around there. We’re excited to have Broc Feeney make a cameo as well this week, he’s been itching for a chance to make an appearance so we’ll see how he fares, and like every week, hopefully our guys can avoid most of the carnage and bring home some strong results.”
