TICKFORD RACING – BAPCOR RETAIL RE-SIGNS WITH TICKFORD
23 February, 2021
Leading Supercars squad Tickford Racing has expanded its partnership with premier Australian auto company, Bapcor, ahead of the team’s 2022 season, which will see an increased presence of Bapcor’s Autobarn and Chicane Tool’s brands on the team’s Ford Mustangs across the 2022 season.
The relationship between Tickford and Bapcor kicked off in style last year, where the Autobarn and Chicane Tool brands started the season on pole position aboard Cam Waters’ No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang. Along with increased Autobarn branding on Waters’ Ford and continued signage on James Courtney’s No. 5 Ford Mustang, Chicane Tool’s also remains the official partner of the Tickford Racing crew, with Chicane Tool’s branding visible on the crew’s race suits and helmets.
Executive General Manager – Bapcor Retail, Tim Cockayne is thrilled to be continuing the relationship between his brands and Tickford Racing following a successful first year together.
“We enjoyed a fantastic 2021 in partnership with Tickford Racing and are delighted to be continuing our relationship in 2022 with an even bigger and better year ahead,” said Cockayne. “Tickford Racing offers an excellent opportunity for us to promote our brand and products to millions of passionate race fans and allows us to show our wide range of automotive products and services. Partnering with Tickford – one of the winningest teams in the sport – is a very natural partnership for our Autobarn brand, and we cannot wait to share in more success together in 2022.”
The partnership between Bapcor and Tickford coincided with the introduction of Chicane Tools, a hand and specialty tool brand launched in December 2020, now the preferred tool of the Tickford Racing crew. Chicane tools featured heavily on Tickford Racing’s digital channels in 2021 via “The Turning Point” content series, in which crew members explained how Chicane tools were used by the team for a range of tasks, including set up changes, engine servicing, and in-race repairs. Richard Wood, Bapcor Retail General Manager-Private Label, described his excitement in the emerging tool brand continuing its support of Tickford and its pit crew.
“As with any new product you want to get input from the best, and our alignment with Tickford allowed our tools to be tested by some of the best mechanics in some of the most challenging conditions you can find,” Wood said. “Our relationship has helped us to improve our tools just as much as it’s helped us promote them and knowing Tickford Racing turn to Chicane when they face a mechanical challenge is something that really excites us and we know builds trust in the brand with our customers.”
Tickford Racing CEO and Team Principal Tim Edwards welcomes the continuing support of Bapcor and the Autobarn and Chicane Tool’s brands ahead of the new season.
“Brands like Autobarn and Chicane Tools are fantastic partners to have because, like us, they live and breathe automotive and performance,” Edwards said. “Getting to work together to help each other reach our goals makes for a very positive partnership, which is certainly something we have with Autobarn and Chicane Tools. We’ve worked quite closely with the team at Bapcor over the last 12 months, developing different ideas and initiatives to activate our partnership with Autobarn, and our crew has been a great sounding board for the Chicane Tool brand and helping to develop the best quality tools available. We’re very pleased to be affiliated with Bapcor, Autobarn, and Chicane Tools and are very much looking forward to an exciting season ahead.”
