Tickford Racing has pulled the covers off Chaz Mostert’s Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang, which will sport a new livery from the Tasmania SuperSprint, April 5-7.
Queensland-based Mostert is thrilled with the new look of his ride, which garnered a positive fan reaction on Tuesday when a teaser video was released giving fans a sneak peek at Car 55’s new colours.
“The Supercheap Auto Mustang’s got a sweet new livery on it this weekend,” Mostert said, “it’s a mean looking thing and the fan reaction has been great. It looks fast standing still and we already know it’s fast on the track, so I’m excited to take it out for the first time on Friday.”
Mostert enters the weekend third in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, after winning Race 5 at the Melbourne 400 and taking home the Larry Perkins Trophy on the weekend last month, for scoring the most points across the four-race weekend.
“It’s good to get back in the Supercar this weekend, obviously we’ve gotten off to a good start so we’re hoping to capitalise on that momentum we’re coming in with,” he added. “That said Tassie wasn’t a good round for us last year and we haven’t been able to quite make the most of our weekends here the past few years. The competition’s always tight there, so we’ll have our heads down all weekend trying to get that extra couple hundredths. But fortunately the morale’s good within the team, the cars have been quick, so hopefully we can keep it up this weekend.”
The Tasmania SuperSprint hosts Races 7 and 8 of the 2019 Supercars season, taking place this weekend at Symmons Plains Raceway south of Launceston.
