The Tickford Autosport program, Tickford Racing’s development pathway for young talent, will grow. 2024 will see the team expand to a three car Super2 team, supporting young up and coming driver aspirations.
The lineup includes Brad Vaughan (middle) in his second year with the team, Lochie Dalton (left) who also enters his second year in Super2, as well as Rylan Gray (right), stepping into Super2 after competing in the final 2023 Super3 event in Adelaide.
Vaughan, who in 2023 secured two pole positions and six top tens, comments “2023 was a learning season. I’ve had the highs of achieving pole positions, but aim to be more consistent in 2024. I’ve worked super hard in the off season to make this happen”.
Dalton, who finished the year with five top tens, noted “I’ve enjoyed my first year in Super2 and I am excited to be joining Tickford for 2024. I can’t wait to get stuck in at next week’s test and learn amongst the crew”.
Gray, turning 17 in the lead up to last year’s Adelaide 500 event, enabled him the opportunity to drive within the category. He delivered straight out of the gate, with a second place in his first race. He states “I’m stoked to have driven with Tickford in my first Super3 event and get a result! I’m pumped about the prospects within Super2 and with the team for the 2024 Championship”.
Tickford’s Autosport program in 2024 continues with Charlie Nash (son of Tickford Racing’s Co-Owner Rod Nash) and new inclusion Seth Burchartz (son of Tickford Racing’s Co-Owner Sven Burchartz).
Charlie who has just turned 16, debuts his new Toyota GR86 at Winton this week in preparation for the start of the new 2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup series (Race 1 is slated for Townsville July 5-7). Charlie will also carry on with his Excel Racing this year, where he’ll look to build upon the results from the 2023, highlighted by the Shannon Trophy Series event at The Bend Motorsport Park, where he swept the three races and took out the Round.
Seth Burchartz is also stepping up this year at 17 years of age, entering selected rounds of the 2024 Formulae Ford series. In 2023 he competed in the E90 Racing category, the BMW Drivers Cup, where he was announced ‘2023 Rookie Champion’. This accolade was a significant milestone for the young driver, who had started his motorsport career in Australia karting.
Managing Director of the team Rod Nash adds “With our program enabling rising talent to grow within Tickford Autosport, we’re thrilled to have our drivers working on honing their skills with a broad support network around them. We’ve had the ultimate success in the past and 2024 is shaping up as a very exciting year for our team”.
