Tasmania - Sunday

Sunday started cooler than Saturday, but clear skies set the stage for an exciting day of racing. The team used the morning practice session to fine-tune setups, helping both drivers gain confidence for the crucial qualifying sessions.

In the first part of qualifying, Waters showcased his pace, advancing to Part 2 with the quickest time of 50.824 seconds. Randle, eager to bounce back from Saturday, also advanced in fifth with a lap of 50.923 seconds.

Part 2 saw the competition intensify. Waters continued his strong form, finishing third fastest with 50.733 seconds, while Randle secured fourth with 50.756 seconds. In the final segment, Waters aimed for a front-row start and delivered the second-best time of 50.706 seconds. Randle earned his second-ever pole position with an impressive 50.662 seconds, securing another front-row lockout for the team.

The race began with Randle taking the lead into the first turn, but a small mistake at turn four allowed Waters to take over. A safety car on lap 8 brought both cars into the pit lane, but the double stack dropped Randle to fourth. He regained third when Payne pitted on the following lap under the safety car. Another safety car on lap 20 compressed the field, but with the pit stops done, our cars stayed out.

Waters maintained the lead, while Randle battled for third. An attempt to pass Brown resulted in Randle being forced wide, dropping him to fourth. With five laps to go, Waters continued his dominance, while Randle, in a fierce battle, locked up and spun Feeney, incurring a 15-second penalty and dropping to eighteenth.

Waters secured his first win at Symmons Plains and third for 2024. He remains 4th in the Championship, with Randle in 8th. The team holds 3rd in the Teams’ Championship.

We return to Sandown for the first of the enduros on September 13-15.
