Sydney Motorsport Park – Day 2

A thrilling fight for pole eventually boiled down to a battle between teammates under lights in Sydney.

Cam Waters led an all-Tickford Racing front row for race one beating Thomas Randle to pole by 0.0134sec.

Randle got the jump on Waters, leading the field through turn one. Waters dropped down the order after fuel flow issues finishing seventh and Randle had his best result of the season finishing third.

“I want to thank the Tickford Team, Castrol, BP and Herzog Steel and everyone who supports us. It’s a big turnaround from twelve months ago. The cars been super-fast this weekend, Stuckey and the guys really tuned it up today. To just get beaten by Cam to pole and have a Tickford front row lockout was something really special” – Randle

“The race was interesting. I got an okay start; Randle got a ripper. I struggled with a bit of car balance and was slow in pit lane for some reason so we’ll put out heads together to make the car faster and see how we go tomorrow” - Waters

Lochie finished twenty second in his first ever Supercars Race. Looking to move up the field even higher in the second race tomorrow.

“First race went alright. We had a good start and tried to look after the tyres. We picked off a couple of cars and had a great battle with Love. We learnt a heap to take into tomorrow” - Dalton

Watch the final race of the weekend tomorrow at 4:05pm AET.

Charlie Nash’s car had under steer during qualifying attributing it to being on track after the Porsche’s. There was so much grip that wasn’t planned for in the setup.

“Thanks to the team for tuning up the car for race one. We had a ripper start and made up four positions. I kept on fighting the whole race and plucked a few more off finishing fifteenth. I was really happy” - Nash
