Mark Winterbottom Returns to Tickford Racing for 2025 as Co-Driver and Mentor

Tickford Racing is thrilled to announce the return of Supercars champion Mark “Frosty” Winterbottom to the team for the 2025 season. Winterbottom will take on a dual role, partnering Cam Waters as co-driver of the No. 6 Monster Energy Mustang in the Supercars Championship, while also mentoring Tickford Autosport’s next generation of drivers.

Winterbottom, one of Australian motorsport’s most accomplished and recognisable figures, spent 13 years with Tickford Racing during the most successful period of his career. Among his many accolades, Frosty secured the 2015 Supercars Championship and a Bathurst 1000 victory in 2013. During his first stint with Tickford, he amassed 38 race wins, 117 podiums, and 35 pole positions, becoming synonymous with the team’s competitive legacy. After moving to Team 18 in 2019, he added another race win, three podium finishes, and a pole position to his name. Across his illustrious career, Winterbottom has competed in 643 Supercars races, achieving 39 race wins, 120 podiums, and 36 pole positions—a record that cements his status as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Reflecting on his return, Winterbottom said: “I’m so excited to come back home to Tickford Racing. This team played such a massive part in my career. I came here as a young driver in the Ford programme, and we went on to achieve incredible success together—race wins, a championship, and Bathurst. It feels like the right time to come full circle, and I’m here to win again, with Cam and with Tickford.”

Winterbottom is equally passionate about his role as a mentor, supporting emerging talent in Tickford Autosport’s development programme. “I’ve learnt so much over my career, and I’m really looking forward to passing that knowledge on to the next generation. Whether it’s helping them with the little tricks—what curbs to hit, throttle control, or handling the pressure of race day—I want to help them succeed and enjoy the sport as much as I have. Watching these young drivers grow and achieve is so rewarding.”

For Winterbottom, reuniting with the team is more than just a professional move; it’s deeply personal.
“Tickford feels like family. So many of the same people are still here, and the fans’ support has been overwhelming—Bathurst really hit home when people kept saying, ‘Go back to Tickford!’ It’s a privilege to return to such a competitive team with two great opportunities ahead: to win with Cam in the enduros and to help shape the future of this sport.”

As co-driver, Winterbottom will partner with Waters, one of the championship’s standout talents, in the No. 6 Monster Energy Mustang. “Cam’s one of the best drivers in the field,” Frosty added. “I’ll support him 100%—if he wins, we win. That’s what it’s all about. I’m excited to complement his raw speed with my experience and help Tickford fight for the top step of the podium.”

Tickford Racing team leadership is equally enthusiastic about Frosty’s return, recognising the value of his experience both on and off the track.

Rod Nash, Tickford Racing Team Owner

“With Mark returning to Tickford Racing, it’s a huge benefit for the business in how he operates. Personally, I have always had the utmost respect for him—not just as a great sportsman but as an individual. He’s incredibly respectful to everyone, always hungry to succeed and achieve, yet remains structured and deliberate in everything he pursues.”

“Mark is a fascinating and knowledgeable statesman of the sport, and I’ve always believed he has ‘Blue Blood’ in him. For our team and for Ford, it’s fantastic to see the homing pigeon arriving back home. We absolutely look forward to working with Mark again in 2025 and beyond, and I firmly believe ‘Frosty’ still has plenty of punch left in him.”

Cam Waters, Driver of Car #6

“Frosty was a key role model for me in the early days of my career and played a significant part in my development. For things to come full circle now, driving together next year is pretty special. It’s going to be great to have him back in the workshop and around the team, bringing all his knowledge and experience with him. He’s going to be a huge asset.”

Simon Brookhouse, Tickford Racing CEO

“Mark is a living legend of the sport, and having him return home to Tickford is both a fantastic story and a huge asset for the team, both on and off the track. His role within the team is truly unique, reflecting his character and immense wealth of experience. We’re especially excited about his mentorship in the Tickford Autosport programme—not only giving him the platform to share his knowledge but also to extend his legacy by coaching and nurturing the next generation of talented drivers. We can’t wait to welcome him to the team for 2025.”
