Bathurst 1000 - Day Three

MAIN GAME

The team focused on final adjustments and gathering crucial data ahead of Sunday’s race during the last two practice sessions. In Practice 5, the co-drivers took the wheel, with James securing an impressive P2, while Tyler completed the session in P15. Practice 6 saw both main drivers and co-drivers back in action. Car 55 finished the session in P4, and Car 6 followed closely in P6. The team spent both sessions fine-tuning their setups, ensuring both cars are in the best possible shape for the gruelling conditions of The Great Race on Sunday.

The day's excitement peaked with the Top Ten Shootout, where Cam Waters put in a stellar lap to secure a front row start for Car 6, setting the stage for a promising race day. With the cars dialled in and the drivers ready, the team is eager to tackle the Bathurst 1000 on Sunday, knowing that in this race, anything can happen.

James Moffat — Car #6
“I’m not disappointed about not starting – Cam stuffed Sandown up, so he knows he needs a good one tomorrow. Anything can happen, but we’ve had a solid lead-up. We’ve ticked everything off the list, both of us are comfortable with the car. Now it’s just about execution and seeing where we finish.”

Cam Waters — Car #6
“Full-course yellows don’t bother me. I wasn’t a fan of Sandown, but it’s important to stay ahead of your teammate when double-stacking. I’m glad there’s no minimum lap requirement. Supercars and Motorsport Australia have done a great job making things safer. For my lap — I made fewer mistakes today than yesterday. You always have a few little ones, but overall, it was a pretty good lap.”

DUNLOP SUPER 2 SERIES

The final day for the Dunlop Super 2 Series saw strong performances from the entire team during qualifying. Brad lined up on the front row in P2, continuing his excellent form, with Rylan closely behind in P3, demonstrating consistent pace throughout the weekend. Lochie secured P6, completing a strong qualifying effort for all three cars, showcasing the team’s competitiveness across the grid.

The race itself was pivotal for the team, with Brad and Rylan securing a double podium, finishing P2 and P3 respectively. Lochie, after running solidly in the top five, was unfortunately caught up in a couple of incidents, resulting in a spin at the final corner, dropping him to P16. Despite this setback, Lochie’s pace earlier in the race underscored his potential before the unfortunate events unfolded.

This weekend marks a landmark achievement for Tickford Autosport, as the team secured its first-ever 1-2 round podium in the Dunlop Super 2 Series. Rylan celebrated his first-ever round win, along with being named Rookie of the Round. At just 17 years old, he also made history as the youngest round winner in the series. Brad capped off a strong weekend with P2 for the round, maintaining a high level of performance throughout the event.

Rylan Gray — Car #55
“Super stoked to come out with the round win, the car was a jet all weekend, looking forward to finishing the year off strong.”

The team is thrilled with the results from Round 6 and is eager to carry this momentum into the final round of the series in Adelaide from 14th-17th October.
