The final day of the 2024 season had a bittersweet feeling for the team as they prepared for one last showdown at the Adelaide 500. With “last day of school” vibes in the air, everyone was focused on finishing the season strong.
The day started with qualifying, where both Cam Waters and Thomas Randle once again showed their strength. Waters clocked P2 while Randle secured P6, setting the team up for yet another Top Ten Shootout. The shootout itself delivered highs and lows—Randle put together a brilliant lap to claim P3, while Waters, battling a small mistake, ended up in P10. Despite this, the team was pleased with their one-lap pace, knowing they had a strong base for the day ahead.
The race itself was nothing short of chaotic, with the Adelaide Street Circuit living up to its reputation. Waters and Randle were thrown into the thick of the action, navigating through relentless battles and managing the ever-present threat of carnage on the streets. Thomas Randle secured a well-deserved third-place finish, showcasing his skill and consistency, while Cam Waters battled hard to claim a solid top-10 result, crossing the line in P10.
Post-race, Waters reflected on the day, sharing, “It wasn’t quite our day. I made a mistake in the shootout, which put us back in the pack, and everyone just let loose today—including myself. I got a penalty but still managed to come home in tenth. I’m super happy for Tommy to get on the podium—awesome for him and the Car 55 crew. It’s been a good year. Not exactly what we wanted, but we still achieved a lot, so bring on next year.”
For Randle, the podium was the perfect way to cap off his year. “It was an awesome way to finish the season with a podium! Starting from P3 was great, but the race was really tricky. The first stint was tough—there was a lot of carnage out there, and I just focused on staying clean. We had a strong car for the second and final stints, which allowed me to push and make the most of the opportunities that came our way. To finish P3 today and P5 in the championship—it’s been an amazing year. Big thanks to the team and all our supporters for an incredible season. Now it’s time to celebrate and get ready for 2025.”
Rod Nash, team owner, summed up the day and the season with pride and gratitude. “What a way to finish! The last race of the season is always exciting, and today was no different. It was brutal out there—plenty of tapping, drivers pushing hard, and fans getting the entertainment they came for. It takes so much preparation from every single person in this team—drivers, engineers, mechanics, and more—to get to this point. It’s been an incredible year.”
“We’ve had three front-row lockouts this season, which is a huge achievement. It’s not about bragging rights; it’s about setting ourselves up for success. Having two cars allowed us to pool resources and focus closely on both drivers. Thomas really stepped up this year, working closely with Cam, and they’ve both driven brilliantly.”
"We’re positioned well for 2025, but we know we need to stay sharp—finals next year are going to bring even more excitement, and it’ll come down to the wire. I’m incredibly proud of the team, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.”
With Waters finishing fourth and Randle fifth in the Drivers’ Championship, and Tickford Racing claiming second in the Teams’ Championship, the team heads into the off-season with plenty to celebrate. Reflecting on the progress made throughout the year, Tickford Racing is ready to carry this momentum into 2025, setting their sights on even greater success.
DUNLOP SUPER 2 SERIES
The final race of the 2023 season saw some strong performances and reflections from the Tickford Autosport drivers. Rylan Gray crossed the line in P6, concluding his weekend and his rookie season with a solid finish. He shared his thoughts on the year: "Overall, I’m happy with the weekend. To come home in the top five for the round caps off a massive learning year for me. I’m pumped to have grabbed my first podium and round win earlier in the season, and I’m really looking forward to getting after it next year."
Brad Vaughan also had a strong result, finishing P7 in the race. He enjoyed a competitive run and reflected on his time in the series, saying, "Really good pace today and enjoyed every lap battling it out. A big thank you to Tickford Racing for an amazing two years."
Lochie Dalton finished P10 in the race, closing out the season with another consistent result.
In the overall championship standings, all three drivers secured spots within the top ten, with Rylan Gray finishing in P7, Brad Vaughan in P8, and Lochie Dalton in P9. The team was pleased to see all their drivers perform strongly across the season, with the Tickford Autosport crew showing remarkable progress and consistency. The team is now eager to carry this momentum into the 2025 season.
